First there were the Beatles, then came Oasis and now the best thing to come out of the North West is The Donovan’s Darlings (the DDs), and The Kissy Kat Klub.
The North West has once again produced originality and pure class.
So what’s all the hype about?

Kissy Kat Klub
Burlesque came to Preston’s 53 Degrees Club on 20th June. Hosted by Willow Blue, one of the DDs, and also head lining performances by several of the DDs! This event put Burlesque well and truly on the Map in Preston. A night of true Glamour, sophistication and style, held in a fabulous venue, this was a night to remember.

Kissy Kat Klub on Tour
Willow Blue takes the Kissy Kat Klub on Tour. We have already appeared in Portsmouth with a further night on 26th September 2009 and soon to be seen in Plymouth in 2010. Again, hosted by Willow Blue, one of the DDs, and also head lining performances by several of the DDs! This event put Burlesque well and truly on the Map. A night of true Glamour, sophistication and style, held in a fabulous venue, this will be a night to remember.

The DDs
The DDs are the brainchild of Kate Donovan of www.KatesPinups.com, she is a genuine all American pinup model now living in the UK. She is also the owner, photographer and makeover artist of 21st Century Goddess. As part of her quest to keep pinup alive she has started a group of pinups called Donovan’s Darlings. Bringing together pinups and patriotism Kate handpicks each girl for classic looks and bubbly personalities. Each of them having various occupations from Burlesque, Modelling, Office Manager and Accountant. They all bring the timeless meaning of Pin Up and cheesecake back to life extending to personal appearances, outings and events for charity, military and civilian organizations.

DDs D-Day is a ‘Supporting the Troops’ desire to help out and boost the moral and awareness of what our boys and girls of the military, not only from the UK but also America and across the world, are dealing with on a day-to-day basis. Back in the 1940’s Pin ups boosted the troops moral and now The DDs are here to do the same in the 21st Century.  Kate has been affiliated with many Military departments and squadrons such as being the official Pinup for The Joint Forces Command in 2003-‘04 and ’05. As well as the pin up for the troops on USS McCampbell, USS Belleau Wood ARG and the USS Abraham Lincoln and battle group. She often sends complimentary signed pinup prints to those in service and has a web page dedicated to them all, headed “Mrs. Moral’s pic of the week!”, It showcases pinups dedicated to specific troops welcoming them home, sending them good luck or simply thanking them for their service. Growing up with a grandfather who was a career Coast Guard service man she learned at a very young age that war is never good but it is undeniable that those in service to their country deserve our thanks and support.
Willow blue of www.willowblueburlesque.com promoter of The Kissy Kat Klub and DDs, personally has a great affection for the forces. A Naval widow of five years whose husband proudly served the Navy for 14 years before he sadly died. Having sailed as a civilian aboard HMS Ark Royal and also attended the Queen Mums last ever-royal engagement, Willow Blue is 100% behind all that the DD’s believe in.

DDs for Charity
The DDs give there time up for charity! The ‘Race for Life’ Manchester run/walk in June raising £120.00 towards the cure for Breast Cancer. The DDs are very keen to be involved with more events and are willing to give their time to help and support such worthy causes.

The DDs Need You!
Press publicity, radio interviews, meet and greet, affiliation to Navy ships and military bases and any local causes that need the DDs.
If you would like more information about The DDs or The Kissy Kat Klub, or to schedule an interview with Kate and Willow please  send a message via email.

BURLESQUE REVIEW – THE SLIPPERY BELLE – FRIDAY 19TH JUNE 2009 BOOKBINDERS MINSHALL STREET. MANCHESTER
http://arthurchappell.me.uk/links-burlesque.htm
WILLOW BLUE, an established favourite at Slippery Belle, came out to dance next, starting out in a blue dress, sitting by a table on which a basket full of clothes was carefully placed. Willow mimed beautifully to a song about Satin & Lace, as she rummaged through the basket, discarding the very unfashionable garments there, as well as her own clothes, until reduced to a satin bra & panties, before leaving to  much applause.
WILLOW BLUE performed as a Vegas style show-girl, with a small cane, dancing sublimely.

The 20th June saw the launch night of the Kissy Kat Klub , run by the wonderful Willow Blue , and boy what a night it was. Set in a concert venue it was fully seated with a raised stage and a wonderful audience, it was the perfect night from start to finish. The audience were magnificent, the acts were amazing, Kate was a great compare and whipped the crowd into quite a frenzy, backstage the air was electric, and hats off to Willow, staying calm whilst running a tight ship was something I’m not so sure I could do. As well as performing “From Russia With Love”, I debuted my “Making of Poison Ivy” routine, which went down a treat.

It was lovely to share a dressing room with so many beautiful ladies, a special mention goes to Coco Malone  who I hadn’t seen perform before, she was just amazing and what a voice! If you haven’t seen her check out her myspace for dates and hop to it.

Massive thanks to Willow for an excellent night, to Cherryfox Fine Photography  and to ZT Photography  for taking such wonderful pics (again a few are in the gallery) and thanks to Number Von Son  for filming during the course of the evening.

A PHENOMENAL NIGHT!!!!!

Please do it again! You were all utterly marvellous and should be congratulated on all fronts (and backs) for supreme effort and glamtasticness!
